The main reason that a MIDI file may sound "good" on one computer and
"not so good" an another is in that it is played. The sound is not recorded
like it would be in a WAV file, instead it is actually created in the
soundcard. There are 2 main types of soundcards, "fm-synthesis" and
"wavetable". "Wavetable" soundcards generally sound better, because they
create the sound you hear by actually playing recorded instrument sounds
whereas a "fm synthesis" just generates frequencies
